Each day, thousands of people get filled with dread doing one of the most mundane of tasks: a business presentation. All over the world, people have to give presentations on all subjects for peers, bosses and subordinates. The one who are the best at these know that being prepared means not only knowing the subject, but knowing the technology as well. A great presenter knows both the subject intimately and knows what technology is available and its limitations.

A good presenter knows not just the information he or she presenting, but can reasonably guess what people will think and will ask about. Good presenters know their materials are broken, but can also know other ways to break it down to explain it better so everyone walks away informed and comfortable. Knowing the full background and possible interpretations of the subject can make the difference between a good and a great presentation.

As technology gets more advanced, we can both show more and get confused by more. A good presenter will have multiple backups on different media in case the preferred medium of technology fails. A computer slide presentation is great, but computers fail and a good presenter must be able to make the show go on. Having a paper or transparency back-ups is both simple and necessary for making the best presentation.
